Ali Baba Cast

The Storyteller (A Weaver of Dreams) Ancient, wizened and bearded. “Designer” rags and a tatty fez or turban.

Cheepin’ Nasti (A Villainous Vulture) Sneaky and laid-back; half “vulture”, with lots of street cred. Costume and make-up should reflect the anthropomorphic nature of the character.

Sumac (An Evil Genie) Evil and Envy personified! Given to childish rejoinders and tantrums

Twinkle Tinkle (Bella’s Little Sister)  Slightly less outrageous clothes than her older sister. Could have thick glasses and keep talking to the wrong people?

Bella Tinkle (The Genie-al Dame) The Dame; nice line in disparaging remarks and one-liners. The usual array of ludicrous “Dame” outfits and disguises, and as Script

Major Jitters (The Head Genie) Male or female; stuffy, pompous, “British Raj” type. Military costume.

Snitch (A Tatty Tartar) Comic Villain; silly, incompetent and accident-prone.

Snotrag (His Silly Sidekick) As above, but more so.

Hassarac (Their Cut-Throat Chieftain) The Principal Villain; terrifying in appearance. “Tartar” costume and make-up; long moustache, eye patch and scar.

Morgiana  (Ali Baba’s Beloved) The Principal Girl; terribly sweet and slightly more practical than Ali; the rather obvious brains of the relationship.

Ali Baba (Our Hero!) The Principal Boy; thigh-slapping and slightly dim. Stylized rags and patches.

Cassim Baba (His Wealthy Uncle) Minor Villain; sly, phoney bonhomie. Somewhat oleaginous in the presence of the Sultana. Sumptuously costumed.

Shiraz (The Sultana of Samarkand) Outwardly snooty and aloof; but really a wee bit of a softie at heart.

Mustapha Neddi (Ali Baba’s Donkey) Panto Donkey; given to dancing at the most inappropriate moments. Wears a fez.

Kharis (Guardian of the Cave) An Egyptian Mummy. Musty, green “bandages”.

Chorus (Adult) Genies, Courtiers, Inhabitants of the Cave.

Chorus (Teenage) Bathing Belles, Palace Servants.

Chorus (Children) “Teeny Genies”, Inhabitants of the Cave, Pages and Maids of Honour in the Finale.
